Twine
The structure of a Twine project reminds me of the significance of choices and a decision-making video game I recently played with a friend. The inspiration for my Twine story actually came from him. He’s a big fan of video games and is currently facing one of the most critical decisions in his life. After three years of studying in Engineering and Computer Science, he’s begun to question if the program is the right fit for him. He has explored numerous ideas for changing his path. I created this story to tell him that no matter what choice he makes, he will eventually find his way.

Video for Learning Purpose
I used iMovie for the first video in this class and the result was not satisfying, so I chose to use DaVinci Resolve this time. It’s a powerful platform with a wide choices of built-in effects that provide incredible flexibility. However, its complexity caused me lots of challenges. The control panel is crowded and I often struggled to locate the specific functions I needed. To overcome this, I had to spend a considerable amount of time exploring the software and watching YouTube tutorials. While this process was time-consuming, it was ultimately rewarding, because I learned everything I needed at the end. Based on my experience I think a question an educator should look into before making any video is that what kind of video editor is the one for them, as simple tools may create poor quality videos and distract viewers, and making a movie theatre classed film is really not their purpose.
In my video, I combined icons and signs with my narration to align with Allan Paivio’s Dual Coding Theory. This approach helps viewers process information more effectively by combining visual and audio channels. Additionally, I applied the Segmenting Principle by using a sequence of steps which is easier to follow for the viewers.
One of the challenges I encountered was the image quality when recording with my mobile phone. The colour tone kept changing as I was filming and made it difficult to correct in the editing stage. Perhaps it is a better idea to use a camera in the future for in order to ensure more consistent and good quality footage.
Finally, I decided to upload my video on YouTube because of its auto-generated captions, making it more accessible and inclusive for everyone. To avoid copyright issues, I cited the musician and the website in the comment section.
